Samantha Akkineni and Sharwanand starrer upcoming film, the Tamil remake of Telugu film 96 has been titled ‘Janaki Devi’, which will be bankrolled by Dil Raju. The title is very simple. It seems that Dil Raju is struggling to get modern title.
It is known news that Kollywood actress Trisha Krishnan and Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘96’ is going to be remade in Telugu. The movie which was made on shoe string budget, turned out money spinner at the box office. Top producer Dil Raju acquired the Telugu remake rights of 96 and he brought Samantha Akkineni and Sharwanand on the board to play the lead roles. Now finally the movie has been titled ‘Janaki Devi’. Dil Raju also roped Prem Kumar who directed the original version, to helm the Telugu version of 96 – Janaki Devi. Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni are reprising the roles of Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan and the regular shoot will commence from April.
The sources close to the film unit reveal that the makers are considered the title ‘Janaki Devi’ and have registered the same in the Film Chamber. The makers are also making few changes in the script, according to the taste of Telugu audiences.
The regular shoot is expected to commence from the month of April. The movie Janaki Devi starring Samantha and Sharwanand will be bankrolled under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations.
In Tamil version of 96, Trisha Krishnan played the role of Janaki Devi alias Jaanu and Chinmayi dubbed the character of Janaki Devi in this film.
Prem Kumar made his directorial debut with 96 , which was produced by S. Nanthagopal under the banner of Madras Enterprises.
On the otherside, Sharwanand is currently romancing with Kajal Aggarwal in Sudheer Varma’s gangster-drama. Currently the shoot is going on at the brisk pace. Whereas Samantha is busy in O Baby, the remake of South Korean film ‘Miss Granny’ in which Naga Shaurya is playing the lead role.
