Mega Prince Varun Tej has joined hands with Harish Shankar for an upcoming project, which has been titled as Valmiki. The upcoming drama Valmiki is remake of Tamil movie Jigarthanda. The movie has been launched recently with formal pooja ceremony and now according to the latest update, the makers have roped Tamil actor Atharvaa Murali for a key role in the film. It is heard that he will be seen playing the role of Siddharth in this film whereas Varun Tej will essay the role of Bobby Simha.
Both Varun Tej and Atharvaa Murali will join the sets in the month of April. Valmiki will be directed by Harish Shankar and is bankrolled by 14 Reels banner whereas it will have the music by sensational music composer Devi Sri Prasad. Harish Shankar is not planning it as an exact remake but he will make some changes to the script to suit the Telugu audiences. The original version in Tamil was helmed by Karthik Subburaj and had Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Lakshmi Menon in the lead roles.
Incidentally, Jigarthanda was also remade in Kannada, directed by Shiva Ganesh and starred Rahul, Samyukta Hornad, and P. Ravishankar in the lead roles.
Harish Shankar’s last film release was Stylish Star Allu Arjun starrer DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham, which was just average at the box office.
Atharvaa Murali started his acting career with Baana Kaathadi, in 2010. He garnered critical acclaim for his performance as a youngster suffering from delusion in the romantic thriller Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, before signing on to feature in Bala’s period film Paradesi. His role as a rural villager held as a slave in a tea plantation became his breakthrough performance, earning Atharvaa Murali a Filmfare Award for Best Actor in Tamil.
Currently Atharvaa Murali has multiple movies- Othaikku Othai, 100 and Kuruthi Aattam in his kitty, which are in different production stages.
