According to the latest buzz in the film industry, Telugu actor Mohan Babu has been approached to play crucial role in an upcoming historical drama, which will be directed by Mani Ratnam.
Mani Ratnam‘s big-budget periodic drama based on Kalki‘s Ponniyin Selvan. The 68-year-old actor, Mohan Babu who is known for portraying versatile roles, was last seen in Nadigaiyar Thilagam, has given her verbal consent to the makers. And now Mohan Babu is all set to play crucial role in the directorial venture of Mani Ratnam.
The sources close to Mani Ratnam, revealed, “The upcoming film is a period trilogy which unfolds on a mammoth canvas and features several prominent actors from across industries. Though Mohan Babu has agreed to play the key role in this film but he is yet to sign the agreement.” The sources added that as the upcoming movie will be made in several Indian languages, it requires his bulk dates. The movie will be released in 2020. Very soon the official announcement regarding Mohan Babu and Mani Ratnam’s project will be made. Now everyone is curious to know that who are going to be the part of this mammoth budget entertainer.
Incidentally, earlier Soundarya Rajinikanth has also announced a historical series based on the same novel for a streaming platform.
In Tollywood, Mohan Babu was last seen in Nag Ashwin’s directorial venture Mahanati, where he essayed the role of SV Ranga Rao.
Mani Ratnam’s last directorial venture was Chekka Chivantha Vaanam starring Aravind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Silambarasan, Arun Vijay, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh, which was released last year.
