Insult of C/o KancharapalemC/o Kancharapalem, the  critically acclaimed film from Tollywood had won hearts across the country and the rejection has come as a disappointment to many. The committee of the Indian National Film Awards has rejected C/o Kancharapalem, stating that it was produced by a US citizen

 According to the latest update,  Care of Kancharapalem (C/o Kancharapalem)  has been rejected from getting nominated for the National Awards, because it was produced by a US citizen of Indian origin – Praveena Paruchuri. The film was released last year and received positive response by the movie lovers and critics from everywhere.

Praveena Paruchuri took to her Twitter and said, “SO SORRY @venkateshmaha25  #CareOfKancharapalem , your hard work and talent is NOT ELIGIBLE to be recognized at the #indiannationalfilmawards because it was Produced by me- a US citizen although of Indian origin …I failed you (sic)”

Maha Venkatesh, the director of  C/o Kancharapalem  also wrote on the wall of Twitter, “It’s not you @paruchurimd, it’s the outdated rules and regulations of our country. I don’t understand why an Indian film, made by an Indian director, in India, acted by Indians and for Indian audience is not eligible for Indian National Awards (sic).”

Maha Venkatesh also tagged the Directorate of Film Festivals and said that it was ‘time for change.

The Netizens are extending their support and express their disappointment over the film C/o kancharapalem  being ineligible for the honour. They also reminded the producer Praveena Paruchuri that the film had won the hearts of the people.

In C/o Kancharapalem featured over 70 debutant actors and the movie was emerged as one of the most loved Indian films last year. C/o Kancharapalem was also premiered at Caleidoscope Film Festival in Boston.
