Casting director Ravindranath Ghosh has been has been given life term by a sessions court in Mumbai , for harassing and raping an aspiring model and actress. Ghosh also has to pay Rs. 1 lakh as compensation to the survivor.
He was accused of raping a woman, and threatening to send inappropriate photos of her to her husband and lawyer. The sources say that Ravindranath Ghosh took nude pics of the victim and sent them to her employer as well as her husband.
The court has imposed a fine of Rs 1.31 lakh, and the casting director Ravindranath Ghosh has to pay Rs 1 lakh to the survivor as compensation.
It is heard that after seeing the nude pics of his wife, he abandoned her and their newborn child.
In 2011, the lady had met accused Ravindranath Ghosh, while working at the hospital. He told her that he was a cameraman as well as a casting director, and that he was producing a TV series.
When the lady also expressed her desire to act in serials and movies, Ravindranath Ghosh promised to help her. Later, he gave her reference to a TV show audition and promised her a job in exchange for the sexual favours. Later she started to avoid his calls but after two weeks when she responded, Ghosh asked her to meet at Madh Island. In the month of February 2012 when she met him in Madh Island, he raped her and took her nude pics. He compelled her into maintaining sexual relations with him and threatened to send her pics to her husband if she refused. The lady alleges that Ravindranath Ghosh continued to rape her till March 2012. One day he came to her house and demanded Rs 1 lakh for terminating their relationship, which she agreed to pay. In 2013, when she changed her phone number, Ravindranath Ghosh then sent nude pics of her to her employer. Later in the month of December, she filed police complaint and he was arrested.
