Mahesh Babu’s bank account has been seized. The accounts were seized to retrieve tax of Rs 73.5 lakh which includes the interest and penalty. Hyderabad’s Goods & Service Tax (GST) Commissionerate has attached the two bank accounts of Mahesh Babu for failing to pay service tax of Rs 18.5 lakh for the financial year 2007-2008. Mahesh Babu’s accounts were seized to retrieve tax of Rs 73.5 lakhs.
According to the latest update, Mahesh Babu has not paid GST on services provided by him as brand ambassador/appearance money and the advertising for the promotion of products. The total tax due from him was Rs 18.5 lakh. Recently the authorities of Goods & Service Tax (GST) department attached Mahesh Babu’s bank account in Axis Bank and ICICI Bank for an amount of Rs 73.5 lakh which includes tax, interest and penalty.
According to the GST officials, Mahesh Babu cannot operate the bank accounts until he settles the tax dues with the GST department.
Mahesh Babu was last seen in Koratala Siva’s directorial venture, the political drama Bharat Ane Nenu, in which he played the role of Chief Minister and shared the screen space with Bollywood actress Kiara Advani. The movie was turned out blockbuster at the box office. After delivering Bharat Ane Nenu, Mahesh Babu joined the sets of his next upcoming drama Maharshi, which is progressing at the brisk pace in the direction of Vamsi Paidipally.
Pooja Hegde, who was last seen in Trivikram Srinivas’s directorial venture Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, is on the board to play the female lead and Allari Naresh is playing the friend of Mahesh Babu in this film, which is jointly bankrolled by C. Ashwini Dutt, Dil Raju and Prasad V. Potluri, under the banners of Vyjayanthi Movies, Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema. The film has the music by Devi Sri Prasad.
