Former Maoist ideologue and folk singer Gummadi Vittal Rao of Telangana, better known by his pen name Baladeer Gaddar cast his Vote for the first time on Friday in the Telangana Assembly elections. He cast his vote in Venkatapuram of Alwal area of Malkajgiri constituency in Greater Hyderabad.
The popular revolutionary Gaddar, 69, carried Mamatha Phule and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Indian Constitution while Participating in vote.
Gaddar campaigned for Congress party in the Telangana assembly elections.
Gaddar had campaigned against electoral politics till last year when he gave up the Maoism and announced that he was going to join the political mainstream.
During his stint with the Maoist party, Baladeer Gaddar strongly campaigned against electoral politics and called for boycott of elections. He severed his ties with the Maoists in April 2017.
In July, Balladeer enrolled himself as a voter.
On the otherside, Megastar Chiranjeevi, Akkineni Nagarjuna, young Tiger Jr NTR , Baahubali film maker SS Rajamouli, Sania Mirza and other celebrities voted in the Telangana Assembly election on Friday.
Superstar Krishna, his wife Vijay Nirmala, Venkatesh Daggubati, Jagapathi Babu, Naga Babu, Srikanth, Stylish Star Allu Arjun, Nithin and Varun Tej also voted at various polling stations at Jubliee Hills. After coming out of the polling stations, they posed for cameras with their inked fingers.
